Take the flu vaccine challenge
Infection Control Monitor, September 19, 2008
Joint Commission Resources (JCR), an affiliate of The Joint Commission, is challenging hospitals to increase the flu vaccination rate among their healthcare workers.
JCR said it launched its Flu Vaccination Challenge to underscore the responsibility that hospitals have to keep their employees and patients healthy this flu season. During the 2005-2006 flu season, only 42% of surveyed healthcare workers received a flu vaccination, according to the CDC.
The challenge for hospitals to achieve a higher vaccination rate began September 1 and continues through the flu season to May 2009. JCR will recognize hospitals that achieve a vaccination rate of 43% or more. To register or learn more about the challenge, click here.
