Holland to require EHRs for everyone involved in children's healthcare
EHR Connection, September 29, 2008
All Dutch institutions involved in children’s healthcare must implement EHRs by the end of 2009, E-Health Europe reported September 5.
André Rouvoet, Holland’s minister for youth and family, set out the new requirement in a letter to the Dutch parliament last month, according to the article. The new files will include information about each child, and his or her family situation and circumstances. The intent is to improve the quality of children’s healthcare by gathering all important information about a child’s medical history in one document.
Implementation will occur in three phases, E-Health Europe reported. In the first phase, existing paper files will be digitized. Introduction of necessary data transfer infrastructure will follow. The final stage will involve analysis of the entire process.
