South Dakota eHealth Collaborative seeks physicians for EHR demonstration
EHR Connection, September 22, 2008
South Dakota’s eHealth Collaborative seeks applications from physicians in small and medium-size clinics, particularly in rural areas, to participate in a five-year EHR demonstration project sponsored by HHS, Government Technology reported September 2.
South Dakota is one of four sites selected for the immediate phase of the demonstration project that will offer physicians financial incentives to implement certified EHRs in their practices, according to the article. The goal of the project is to encourage EHR usage to improve the quality of patient care.
Eligible practices include primary care, internal medicine, family practice, general practice, and gerontology, Government Technology reported. Application packets are available at the South Dakota eHealth Collaborative Web site. Completed applications are due November 29. Successful applicants will receive notification during March 2009 and the demonstrations will begin during June 2009.
