ASCs in the news: Creative events mark National ASC Open House Day
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, September 16, 2008
ASCs nationwide observed National ASC Open House Day on August 13, with activities ranging from free health services to teddy bear clinics, according to a September news release from the ASC Association based in
The ASC Association and the Ambulatory Surgery Foundation began the annual event in 2003, according to the release. The festivities give people an opportunity to learn more about the services and benefits ASCs provide. Typically, visitors include residents of the ASC's community, elected officials, insurance payers, and local business people, the ASC Association says.
Open houses are an extremely effective way to spread the word about ASC's quality of care and cost-effective surgery, says ASC Association president Kathy Bryant, JD, in the release. She added that people often say, "I never really understood what ASCs do or how they do it until I actually took the time to tour an ASC."
"Each year, ASCs seem to be getting more creative with their open house events," Bryant said. "I've enjoyed watching this program grow over the years and seeing the many ideas ASCs have developed and the many ways they have put those ideas to work."
