Tepid water parameters

Lab Safety Advisor, September 8, 2008

In 2004, ANSI defied tepid water as moderately warm, lukewarm but the standard does not stipulate a temperature. In appendix B6 it goes on the state the water must be between 60°F and 100°F. Some chemicals react differently to water temperature so it is important to keep the temperature on the lower side. The reason for the tepid water is that cold water from a city supply may prohibit an individual from remaining under the shower or eyewash for the full 15 minutes, causing further damage to the eyes or skin.
