Care management in first phase of HIT automation

A period of “remarkable innovation” is emerging as the care management industry labors in the initial phase of becoming fully automated, according to a new report on healthcare information technology (HIT) as it relates to care and disease management (DM).
Many work flows are still paper-based or supported by multiple HIT applications, and few companies have implemented an integrated or interoperable system within their business, according to the report, based on a survey from TCS Healthcare Technologies, Utilization Review Physicians, and the Case Management Society of America.
But examples do exist of companies that have automated parts of their care management work flows in a seamless manner, the report says—for example, in the case of population-based risk stratification through predictive modeling.
