PPV: What you may not know about HIPAA: Interesting facts and little-known requirements

Did you know . . . although most covered entities have established appropriate data backup practices, many overlook 45 CFR 164.308(a)(7), which requires periodic data recovery testing?
 
Did you know . . . CMS issued guidance in December 2006 for handling laptop computers and other portable and mobile devices that store ePHI? The guidance, available on the CMS Web site, is important because of the many security risks associated with stolen laptop computers and electronic devices.
