New father jailed after hospital scuffle
Healthcare Security Weekly, August 18, 2008
Police arrested a Reading, PA, man who got into a scuffle with a maternity nurse because he didn’t like the way she was helping his girlfriend breast-feed his new baby, reported the Reading Eagle Press.
The 21-year-old man repeatedly grabbed the Reading Hospital nurse’s arm and then pushed her out of the way, according to police. He was arrested August 10 after he refused to leave the hospital room. Police said the nurse had another staff member call hospital security, and officers asked the man to leave the room. When he refused, security officers called the police. The man struggled with two police officers when they tried to arrest him.
Police charged the man with aggravated assault, simple assault, defiant trespass, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child, and disorderly conduct, the newspaper reported.
