Security increased at nursing home after threat
Healthcare Security Weekly, August 11, 2008
Security has been increased at a San Francisco nursing home for U.S. veterans after a worker at risk of losing his job allegedly threatened to buy a machine gun and kill everyone in the facility, the Associated Press (AP) reported.
The worker is charged with threatening an officer of the United States for allegedly making the threat to an employee benefit counselor at the VA hospital in Palo Alto on July 31, the AP reported. According to a federal court affidavit, the man was spotted later that day dressed in desert fatigues at the nursing home. The affidavit says the man had earlier threatened to harm other nursing employees after he was given a letter stating he would be fired for sexual harassment and abusive behavior toward staff members.
