Rapper arrested in hospital fraud
Healthcare Security Weekly, July 28, 2008
Law enforcement authorities arrested the rapper DMX on suspicion of giving a false name and Social Security number to a Scottsdale, AZ, hospital to avoid paying for medical expenses.
DMX was arrested at a Phoenix shopping mall on July 19, reported The New York Times and Associated Press. The Maricopa County Sheriff said that when DMX went to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale in April he used a false name and failed to pay a $7,500 medical bill.
That arrest was the latest legal trouble for the 37-year-old DMX who was arrested in May on drug possession and animal cruelty charges after authorities seized 12 pit bulls at his Phoenix home.
