Understanding Scabies

Scabies is an infestation or parasitic disease of the skin caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. The mite in primarily transmitted by direct skin-to-skin contact. Transmission is often through person-to-person contact or by indirect contact with contaminated:
- Undergarments
- Bedclothes
- Linens
- Cracks in mattresses
- Blankets
- Pillows
- Clothing
- Lotions and creams
- Gait belts
- Upholstered furniture
