New father jailed for lewd behavior at hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, July 21, 2008
A Lynn, Massachusetts man was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he admitted that he engaged in open and gross lewdness in the room at Salem Hospital where his girlfriend was resting after giving birth last year.
The 41-year-old man was sleeping in a cot next to his girlfriend’s hospital bed, when a nurse came in to check on the new mother, reported the Salem (MA) News. The nurse told police she heard “moaning” behind her and felt a leg brush against her. When she turned around, the man was exposed and engaging in a lewd act. The nurse was terrified and reported the incident to a supervisor, who called security. They then called police.
The defense attorney said the man was recently diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, the newspaper said.
