Study: Patient satisfaction higher at wired hospitals

Quality Improvement Monitor, July 18, 2008

Wired hospitals have better outcomes in patient satisfaction and risk-adjusted mortality rates, according to the 10th Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study, reports the American Hospital Association.

"Health IT has shown incredible promise in helping us improve the quality and safety of the care hospitals deliver every day," said Rich Umbdenstock, president and CEO of the AHA in a press release. "The results of the Most Wired survey confirm that today's patient also understands the benefits of IT in improving care and improving the overall hospital experience."

Satisfaction scores were collected by Press Ganey Associates. Quality analysis was conducted jointly with Ganey and Thomson Healthcare.
