The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will pay more than $36 million to health professionals who reported quality information to CMS as part of its voluntary Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) in the 2007 reporting period.
Payments to the more than 56,700 health professionals who reported on services performed between July and December 2007 should receive payments by August 2008. Individual professionals will receive an average of $600 while the average incentive for eligible participating physician groups practices is more than $4,700.
The 2008 PQRI program includes more measures, incentive payments for the entire year, and the use of registries to report quality measures.
