Ushering in a new age of safety training
Lab Safety Advisor, July 14, 2008
Last week we talked about the importance of safety training. This week we are going to talk about some new ideas for safety training that those under 40 prefer.
The computer age is here to stay. As we age, older employees may find online training to be difficult due to eyesight issues. However, those under 40 have embraced the computer and expect online training to be fun as well as educational. Allowing anyone to go to seminars or to participate in continuing education is difficult at best, but having it available online or in an iPod speaks to the younger generation.
To the under 40 age group, sitting in a room listening to an audio conference is boring, but put it on an iPod and you have their attention. Granted, not all training can be done this way, but it’s certainly worth thinking about.
