CMS proposes hospitals report four new outpatient measures

Hospitals would have to report on four new outpatient quality measures in 2009 to receive their full Medicare reimbursement under a new CMS proposal unveiled last week. They include:
Hospitals paid under the outpatient prospective payment system must report on the measures or forfeit 2% of the full Medicare update. Comments on the proposed rule will be accepted until September 2, 2008, and a final rule will be issued by November 1, 2008.
