A disease management program involving Web-based care from pharmacists and at-home blood pressure checks helped control hypertension without office visits, and patients with more severe hypertension were easily controlled, says the author of a study on electronic blood pressure (e-BP) control.
The study, which involved more than 700 patients in the Group Health plan in Seattle, found that Web-based care nearly doubled the percentage of people whose blood pressure was controlled (less than 140/90 mm Hg). The paper was published in the June 25 Journal of the American Medical Association.
