Hospital security tightened to give freed hostages privacy

Healthcare Security Weekly, June 23, 2008

Tighter security measures were put in place at the Medical City in the Philippines where freed members of a television news team, captured and held hostage, spent the night.

The Medical City June 18 issued an advisory stating that a released broadcast journalist being treated at the hospital requested that she be given time to rest. The hospital increased security to keep the patient’s request for privacy. Three people were kidnapped by members of Abu Sayyaf on June 8.
