Illinois upgrades Medicaid database to reduce medical errors, redundant care
EHR Connection, June 2, 2008
Illinois physicians treating Medicaid patients can now review their prescription histories and other information with an improved version of the Medical Electronic Data Interchange system, according to an article in the May 10 Rockford Register Star.
The Medical Electronic Data Interchange stores data such as medications, immunization histories, laboratory orders, and hospitalizations, according to the article. State officials say the new program will reduce medical errors and redundant care.
