California fines two hospitals for poor IC

The California Department of Public Health has fined 13 hospitals for violations, including two facilities found in noncompliance with IC requirements.
The state health agency said in a May 21 press release that it issued $25,000 fines per violation after a determination that the hospitals’ noncompliance with requirements of licensure caused, or was likely to cause, serious injury or death to patients.
State officials issued a $25,000 fine to Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, for failure to implement policies and procedures to provide for effective surgical service IC. The state also fined Los Angeles County Olive View, at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center, for failure to develop and implement policies and procedures for accurate assessment, diagnostic review, IC, and for the maintenance of an integrated and specific patient medical record. State officials said that all of the violations have been corrected, according to Fox6 News. Click here for a copy of the press release.
