Inverness Medical completes Matria acquisition

Inverness Medical Innovations said May 9 that it has completed its acquisition of Marietta, GA–based disease management vendor Matria Healthcare, Inc., for a final purchase price of approximately $143.9 million, plus about 1.8 million shares of Inverness convertible stock.
The purchase, announced January 28, was approved by Matria shareholders in a May 8 meeting. It follows disappointing results from the first quarter of this year, announced May 6 with little fanfare in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
