Security guards allegedly stole from patients
Healthcare Security Weekly, May 19, 2008
Two former security guards at the Jersey City Medical Center will go on trial later in May for allegedly stealing money and other valuables from patients worth $4,800, reported The Jersey Journal.
The newspaper reported that hospital and law enforcement officials say two Jersey City residents have been charged with conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking property and conspiracy to commit theft by failure to make proper disposition with property received. The charges resulted from an investigation by the medical center and police. The two men allegedly stole $600 from a deceased patient, along with a ring, bracelet, and silver pocket knife.
