Thief steals family photos from dying woman on Mother's Day
Healthcare Security Weekly, May 19, 2008
While family members visited a woman dying of cancer at a San Jose, CA hospital May 11, someone stole a digital camera and laptop computer containing family photos from a car parked in the hospital’s parking lot.
Family members said photos of the woman’s loved ones were stolen when her husband came to visit her at O’Connor Hospital on Mother’s Day and left the electronics outside in a car, the San Jose Mercury-News reported. The camera and computer contained irreplaceable snapshots that the family meant as a gift to the woman.
Hospital officials said whoever took the items could return them anonymously to the security department. The family offered a reward and posted online pleas for the return of the equipment.
