Study says silver-coated catheters reduce infections

Infection Control Monitor, May 2, 2008

A new study found that using silver-coated catheters reduced the number of urinary tract infections (UTIs) among hospitalized patients compared to the use of latex catheters.

The study, published in the April issue of Urologic Nursing, the journal of the Society of Urological Nurses and Associates, found using silver-coated catheters significantly reduced UTIs, the most common hospital-associated infection.
