Tip of the week: Involve many people in disaster preparedness
Healthcare Security Weekly, April 14, 2008
At its best, hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) development is a good group exercise that probably gets more accurate when more people contribute. “You get a feel for it among the group, and you stick a number in” to rank risk severities or likelihoods, says Maurice Ramirez, DO, CPF, CMC, CSP, a hospital consultant based in Kissimmee, FL. “There’s not a science to it.”
Once you’ve crunched the numbers, address high-risk events in your emergency plans and account for low-end risk as part of your all-hazards preparation, Ramirez says.
