Healthcare IT manager survey results demonstrate 'commitment to security'
EHR Connection, April 7, 2008
A recent survey of 307 healthcare information technology (IT) managers by Cisco Systems revealed that investing in database security is a top priority, according to the March 12 Business Technology Blog in The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
Especially worrisome was the finding that 16% of respondents had experienced security breaches at their organizations within the last six months and 24% reported breaches within the past year, according to the blog.
The survey shows "there's a commitment to security," Frances Dare, director of Cisco's Internet Business Solutions Group healthcare practice, told the WSJ. Security measures and internal audits caught most of the breaches and Dare said this was a sign that systems are improving.
