Angie's List to include doctor ratings
Quality Improvement Monitor, March 28, 2008
Consumers can now rate their doctors on Angie's List, according to the Indianapolis Star.
Angie's List, which allows customers to review painters, roofers and other service providers, will now let patients rate their physicians on things such as bedside manner and cleanliness of waiting rooms, the paper said. Angie's List, which has 600,000 members nationwide, joins a growing number of organizations that rate healthcare quality, including HealthGrades and RateMDs. Some doctors, however, criticize the ratings system.
"The rating system is going to look at the experience the patient has, or had, at the appointment," Don Marhenke, MD, president of the Indiana State Medical Association, told the paper. "It's not going to rate the quality of the medical care that was provided. They may see a wonderful office and very courteous people, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they received good care."
