Pennsylvania site compares hospital quality
Quality Improvement Monitor, March 21, 2008
Consumers in Pennsylvania can now go online to see how one hospital compares against another, according to the Associated Press (AP).
The Pennsylvania Health Care Quality Alliance has launched a new Web site that contains comparative information about quality, performance, and outcomes at all 162 primary acute care hospitals in the state, the AP reported.
"While hospital quality data has become more available on the Internet, consumers are at a disadvantage when they must search out multiple sites, each with its own measurement standards," Gerald Miller, retired CEO of Crozer-Keystone Health System, told the news agency.
Information will be available for how well hospitals perform when it comes to heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia, and preventing certain hospital-acquired infections.
