CMS to include more measures in its Physician Quality Reporting Initiative for 2008
Quality Improvement Monitor, February 29, 2008
CMS' Physician Quality Reporting Initiative has been in place for a year, and in that time the program has collected data around 74 quality measures, reports Fierce Healthcare. In 2008, CMS is modifying the program to include 119 measures in total. For both 2007 and 2008, physicians are awarded a 1.5% bonus for reporting on these measures. The bonuses are not awarded around patient outcomes.
Some additional changes for 2008 include reporting on the use of health information technology such as electronic medical records.
