Apply now to participate in CCHIT pilot test
EHR Connection, February 18, 2008
The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) is inviting EHR vendors to apply for participation in the 2008 Pilot Test Program March 17 through April 2, according to a February 4 press release.
This year's pilot test certification categories include:
- Ambulatory
- Cardiovascular medicine (a specialized certification available to ambulatory EHR product vendors)
- Child Health (an added endorsement available to ambulatory EHR product vendors)
- Emergency department
- Enterprise (includes ambulatory, inpatient, and emergency department functionality and demonstration of interoperability among those domains)
- Inpatient
CCHIT said in the press release that it will ask applicants if they primarily serve small, mid-size, or enterprise customers to ensure that test participants reflect the industry as a whole.
Participants will test new product readiness against the proposed 2008 test scripts without a fee and provide feedback to help refine the criteria and testing process. CCHIT will identify participants at the conclusion of the pilot test.
CCHIT is as an independent, nonprofit organization that the federal government has designated as a "recognized certification body" for EHR products, according to the press release.
