St. Vincent's ASC continues fighting for CON
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, February 12, 2008
Birmingham, AL-based St. Vincent's Hospital's proposed Shelby County ASC has been fighting for a Certificate of Need (CON) since it filed an application in February, 2007. The freestanding ASC would be a joint venture. Nearby Brookwood Medical Center, however, questions whether Shelby ASC would attract enough business, according to a February 4 article in the Birmingham Business Journal.
Currently, Administrative Law Judge James Hampton is hearing the cases of both Brookwood and St. Vincent's, and he expects to hear witness testimony through February 7.
