Study: ER wait times up by 36%

Quality Improvement Monitor, January 18, 2008

Emergency rooms are so overcrowded that it takes almost an hour for 25% of heart attack patients to see a doctor, according to a study in Health Affairs released this week.

The study found that from 1997 to 2004, the time it took for patients to see physicians rose by 36%, according to USA Today.

The patients who saw the biggest increase in wait time were heart attack victims.
