Texas to consider infection-rate reporting requirement for hospitals

Infection Control Monitor, January 4, 2008

Watch for legislation this year in Texas that would require hospitals to disclose their infection rates.

State Senator Jane Nelson, R-Lewisville, chairman of Texas' Health and Human Services Committee, plans to introduce a bill in the next legislative session that will require hospitals across the state to report infection rates, reported the Waco Tribune-Herald.

If approved, the legislation would add Texas to the growing list of states that have some type of reporting requirements for hospitals.
