Houston to host 2008 NHIT summit
EHR Connection, December 31, 2007
The University of Texas School of Health Information Sciences at Houston will host the National Health Information Technology (NHIT) Summit from April 15-16, 2008, according to the group's Web site.
"The goal of the April 2008 summit is to bring regional healthcare stakeholder together to facilitate consensus and provide input to local, state, and federal government representatives, including the national coordinator for health information technology, Robert Kolodner, MD," according to the Web site.
This conference will differ from other meetings focused on HIT adoption in that its focus will be regional rather than national or local. Organizers intend it to serve as a model for future regional meetings elsewhere in the country.
Conference organizers invite the following stakeholders to attend:
- Business, hospital, and community leaders
- Healthcare providers and payers
- HIT leaders
- Policy makers
- Physicians and nurses
- State, county, and city representatives
- Healthcare consultants and academicians
