Michigan to post quality data on the Web
Quality Improvement Monitor, December 21, 2007
The Michigan Health & Hospital Association will launch a new Web site on January 1 that will provide quality and cost information to consumers, according to Crain's Detroit Business.
"The public and business community have long called for more transparency in quality-of-care and pricing information," Lori Latham, senior director of political and public affairs for the association, told the paper. "Our hope is this is the start of a discussion about what data is important and how the data is useful."
The site will provide data on the 50 most common inpatient and outpatient procedures at the hospitals, and annual averages for the hospitals' charges and reimbursements from Medicare. It will also include total numbers of patients by procedure and average lengths of stay for Medicare inpatients, the paper reported.
