Hospital psychologist admits to child pornography

Healthcare Security Weekly, December 17, 2007

A 60-year-old psychologist who worked at North Dakota State Hospital resigned in early November after admitting he subscribed to child pornography Web sites, reported the Associated Press (AP).

His work at the hospital included examining sex offenders to determine their potential dangers to the public, the AP reported. The superintendent of the State Hospital in Jamestown said the hospital placed the psychologist on administrative leave in late October and barred him from the hospital grounds after he told his supervisor that Homeland Security officials had seized his computer in search of child pornography.

The man, who worked at the hospital for more than 20 years, has not been criminally charged and the State Board of Psychologist Examiners will decide the status of his license to practice in North Dakota.
