Thieves steal copper from hospital restrooms
Healthcare Security Weekly, December 10, 2007
Copper thieves struck at one of Houston's top trauma hospitals, reported KPRC Local 2 News.
Someone turned off the water to toilets in the men's rooms in the basement and on the first floor of Ben Taub Hospital and stole the copper flush valves sometime around 11 a.m. on December 1. The thefts caused about $1,100 worth of damage, hospital officials told the TV station.
Because the thefts occurred in the hospital restrooms there were no surveillance cameras. The hospital has increased security since the thefts.
