Healthcare Security Weekly, November 26, 2007
Police are looking for a woman who stole from residents of retirement facilities in Glendale and Pasadena, CA while posing as a hospital employee, according to news reports.
Police hope security photos they released will lead them to the woman, who used the name Isabel Jones or Isabel Smith. She allegedly stole a wallet on October 8 at the Glen-Park Retirement Facility in Glendale, reported KTLA-TV in Los Angeles.
The woman, who wore a white lab coat, approached a resident and pretended to be an employee of Glendale Memorial Hospital, police said. The resident later found her wallet missing. Her bank card was later used at a nearby Target store where the thief spent nearly $1,000.A police investigation found the woman had been committing the same crime at other retirement facilities in the area.
