Baby delivered by dad outside hospital

A baby was delivered by his own father outside the doors of Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, IL, earlier this month as the parents say hospital staffers walked on by.
The father told CBS 2 Chicago News that he delivered the baby, his sixth child, outside the hospital after hospital employees ignored his request for help. The mother said hospital staff members arriving for work apparently decided they didn't have the time to stop and help after she went into early labor.
Hospital officials declined an interview request from CBS 2, but released a statement to the news station saying the baby was born with the assistance of hospital staff. "As soon as security was alerted they immediately came to the aid of the family," the statement said.
