Police arrest man with gun in hospital ED
Healthcare Security Weekly, November 19, 2007
Police in Lebanon, PA arrested a man who pointed a gun at hospital emergency department (ED) staff on November 9.
The 26-year-old man entered the Good Samaritan Hospital ED around 11 p.m. and pointed what turned out to be a BB gun at staff, reported The Patriot-News.
Police credited hospital security staff for diverting the man's attention from medical staff, the newspaper reported. While the man pointed a flashlight and the gun at one security officer, another officer sprayed him with pepper spray. The man then quickly left the ED and was arrested by police officers who had arrived outside. Police charged the man with simple assault, aggravated assault, making terrorist threats, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct.
