Pay-Per-View: New E/M guidance won’t ruffle feathers

According to the 2008 OPPS proposed rule, hospitals across the country have proven themselves more than capable of creating and using their own internally developed E/M guidelines. In fact, the results of a recent study of facility E/M coding have been so positive that CMS has once again postponed national guidelines. Instead, it provided new guidance to help hospitals continue to report their E/M visits using their own internally constructed guidelines.
