Tip of the week: Watch for colors and shading when implementing an EHR

Two of the biggest hurdles that an organization must tackle along the way to EHR conversion are form redesign and scanning preparation. Keep the following coloring and shading tips in mind:
- Forms should consist of black lettering on white paper. For easy recognition, consider using colored borders.
- Highlighting and shading does not provide good copy on forms, especially in fields where patient information is written. Use of any highlighter color other than yellow might black out the highlighted information.
