Report recommends improvements to electronic health records

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) released a report that recommends improvements that healthcare providers can make to their electronic health records (EHRs). According to Healthcare IT News, the report suggests ways to:
- Strengthen audit functions
- Improve patient identification
- Verify provider identification
- Improve efficiency
- Reduce the likelihood of inaccurate payments
- Assist anti-fraud efforts
According to Healthcare IT News, a team of experts developed the suggestions in the report, which more than 75 leaders in the healthcare field later reviewed.
