Reports find privacy and security a challenge for electronic health data exchange

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) released reports August 1 describing the differences in health data privacy and security between 34 regional health information organizations. The report found that the 34 organizations differ significantly in their interpretations of HIPAA, in their usage of electronic healthcare data exchange, and in their knowledge of healthcare IT.
