Government contractor, Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) of San Diego, announced July 20 its responsibility for a military health information security breach that was first discovered in May, according to The Washington Post. The breach occurred when SAIC employees transmitted unencrypted health information for 867,000 U.S. military personnel and their families over the Internet. The transmission included information related to medical appointments, treatments and diagnoses, as well as names, addresses, social security numbers, birthdays, and other health information, says The Washington Post.
