The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has released guidelines for developing security assessment plans and a comprehensive catalog of assessment procedures that organizations can use to determine the effectiveness of security controls in federal information systems, in its third draft of Special Publication 800-53A, Guide for Assessing the Security Controls in Federal Information Systems.
NIST will accept comments until July 31; forward your comments via e-mail to sec-cert@nist.gov. Click here to read the document.
