CMS published the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) data dissemination notice in the May 30 Federal Register. The agency had previously released a display copy.

The notice details how covered entities can access provider data from NPPES and specifies that some information--including providers' Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and taxpayer identification numbers--will be unavailable from the system. The NPPES data will be available for download 30 days after the notice's publication in the Federal Register, on June 28.
