Enthusiasm for HIT lags

Those in the health information technology (HIT) community say that after years of efforts to increase HIT adoption and create policy changes, the movement may be running out of steam, reports Government Health IT.

Although legislators may introduce HIT bills in Congress later this year, the enthusiasm for adopting HIT has stalled. And as in past years, there is no guarantee that HIT legislation will become law. Part of the reason for the slowdown may be that the healthcare community, after accomplishing preliminary work, must now address tougher questions, such as where the money for HIT improvements will come from, according to Government Health IT.
