A March audit discovered that computer hackers accessed the personal information of more than 71,000 healthcare workers when the hackers broke into an Indiana government Web site in January. The information includes Social Security numbers and credit card information.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the state discovered the security breach in February, but the amount of information the hackers accessed was uncertain until the state released the report. The state's technology office has sent letters to the 71,000 people, warning them to review their credit reports and seek fraud alerts.
