Hacker puts 71,000 at risk

Seventy-one thousand healthcare employees are at risk of identity theft after a hacker in January accessed personal information in an Indiana database, reports the Chicago Tribune. The state government discovered the breach during a security audit.

The U.S. Department of Justice is close to making an arrest in the case, according to state officials. Indiana held the sensitive information in a database to assist healthcare workers in checking credentials. Indiana officials told the Chicago Tribune that they have fixed the security vulnerabilities leading to the breach.
